Summer Camps and Dance

KIDS LOVE 171 CEDAR ARTS CENTER

Join 171 Cedar Arts Center this summer! 171 is offering week long summer camps for age 6-12 starting July 8, 2019. Camps at 171 will spark your child’s imagination as they develop skills in art making, music, cooking, theater, or dance.

Their first camp, Active Art, engages all your child’s senses! Get dirty outdoors while making clay from mud, carve soapstone sculptures, or work in the kitchen making delicious recipes. That same week there is also French Camp for children ages 6-10.

Next they offer Music and Movement camps starting July 15. Students will explore elements of music, dance, and art! Students will get creative in the art room making their own instruments, make music as a class with their unique creations, dance and play games to musical tunes. Also, that week 171 will offer a Choreography camp for students 12 and older with previous dance experience.

The fun continues throughout the summer, ending with a two week camp in Theater for students 9 or older and a one week storytelling and play writing camp for students 6-8.

Most camps offered at 171 this summer can be taken as a half day camp in the morning or afternoon or can be combined as a full day class. Morning camps run 9 am to 12 pm and afternoon camps run 12:30 to 3:30 pm. Students enrolled for the full day camp should pack a meal and will have a supervised lunch on campus.

Although most camps at 171 are meant for students between 6-8 or 9-12, the week of July 29 is reserved for teens. 171 will hold camps in photography, fencing, ceramics, music performance, and more specifically designed for older students.

Week long camps run July 8 through August 23. In addition, 171 has weekly summer dance classes for all age groups and experience levels that begin at the end of May and end in August. New students are encouraged to sign up during the summer in order to be placed appropriately into our annual graduated dance program.
