Introduction to Handbuilding Construction and Form

In this introductory class, Kate Heiman will use pinch and coil techniques, soft and hard slab construction, and slump and hump molds to teach the basics of clay handbuilding.
Students will learn the following:

• Rolling out slabs by hand and using the roller
• Use of extruder to create shapes, coils, handles and more
• Stamps and rollers to add texture to soft slab construction
• The basics of template design for hard slab construction
• Coil pots with additions and extensions such as legs, lugs, and spouts
• Underglaze and glaze decoration

All supplies are included in the cost of your class. All you have to bring is your creativity and desire to learn something new!
