Start speaking in German from your first day of class!

You will not only learn language structures, but you will also be introduced to the history, geography, culture, holidays and traditions of Germany. Topics range from ordering coffee or food in a restaurant, traveling virtually to German cities, and day-to-day life. The introductory German class seeks to make you feel confident in the language, with the focus on speaking. Over the time you will develop the communicative skills necessary to feel comfortable traveling and engaging in everyday life in a German speaking country.

This is a beginner level class, intended for students with no previous knowledge in German. You will build your understanding of important vocabulary and customs throughout the course into the summer. You will also learn about the language structures and idioms, including the different tenses, the use of adjectives, etc. Since the objectives of conversational and grammatical know-how of a language are attached, you will be guided towards using German as truthfully as possible by our German mother-tongued instructor.

UPDATE: In accord with the Corning Painted Post School District, 171 Cedar Arts Center will temporarily suspend classes, workshops, and private music lessons beginning TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020.
If the Steuben County State of Emergency is lifted, we will resume our arts instruction the week of April 13, 2020.
