Local artist and 171 instructor, Christina Johnson is known for her colorful, lively paintings of food! She will be teaching a painting workshop in celebration of Frida Kahlo’s last painting of watermelons called Viva la Vida. Students will receive food and other items to create their still life. Before painting starts, students will learn to set up a basic color palette, review tools, be shown how to create a wash, and examine initial drawings from Christina and other contemporary artists. You will learn to predraw your still life using basic shapes, color mixing, alla prima painting, and the use of painting mediums. Students will receive a 6″ x 6″ panel to create their delicious masterpiece.
All supplies are included in the cost of the class, and there will be a short break for lunch!
