The 171 Cedar Arts Center Board of Directors has announced Kirsty Buchanan as the incoming Executive Director of 171 Cedar Arts Center to replace Beth Landin, who has announced her retirement in February 2023.

Since 2015, Kirsty has served as the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for The Rockwell Museum in Corning, New York. She is a member of the leadership team that crafts the institutional business plan and sets strategic goals for the museum. Under her guidance, the Rockwell Museum has implemented new technology platforms, secured funding for a variety of projects, and managed a fiscally responsible budget during the challenges of a global pandemic.

Kirsty earned her Master of Arts in Art History and Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She is a member of the American Association of Museum Curators, is a Lifetime Member of the Association of Historians of American Art and is the Member Representative for the Rockwell Museum at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center. Kirsty also is active with a number of local area organizations including the WSKG Media Advisory Board, the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society (Collection Committee Chair), the Corning-Painted Post PTA (Council Representative, CPPMS), and Boy Scouts of America, Five Rivers Council, Williamson Road District, Pack 2 Den Leader & Treasurer.

Buchanan will assume the role of Executive Director at the Arts Center in late January 2023.

171 Cedar Arts Center is a dynamic organization that enriches the community through the arts. The Arts Center is in two historic buildings at 155 and 171 Cedar Street, in the heart of Corning, NY.
