What is 171?
Founded in 1968, 171 Cedar Arts Center, an Associate Institutional Member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, is a not-for-profit multi-arts community center that presents performances in dance and music, and exhibitions of fine art and crafts, and offers educational programs in visual arts, music, dance, ceramic arts and drama. The Center is committed to providing quality, professional experiences in the arts in a warm and welcoming environment.
How do I register for classes?

You can register online. Just add the class(es) you want to take to your shopping cart.
If you are a member, make sure you are signed in to your account to get your discount.
When you are signed in, if you get this message, “Sorry there are no registrants available for this class,” your will need to update your account.

You can also register by calling 607-936-4647 or by visiting our main desk in the Drake House Lobby at 155 Cedar St. in Corning.

What if a course/class is canceled?
If a class has been canceled due to under-enrollment, 171 Cedar Arts Center staff will contact you 1 to 2 days in advance of the class start date. In cases of weather cancellations, 171 Cedar Arts Center makes decisions independently of the local school districts. If you are concerned that your class has been canceled, call 171 directly, look to our website, or turn into local television news channels.
Driving from Watkins Glen

Drive into Corning on Route 414 and cross Market Street in downtown Corning and pass the Rockwell Museum on the right hand side. The street name will change to Cedar Street. Go two more blocks and the 171 Campus is on the right. The first building, at 155 Cedar Street is the Drake House and further up the hill is the Bruce House at 171 Cedar Street.

Driving from Elmira
Follow Interstate 86 (86 used to be Route 17) West to exit 46 (Corning Museum of Glass exit). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp. This street will cross Market Street in downtown Corning. You will then pass the Rockwell Museum on the right hand side. The street name will change to Cedar Street. Go two more blocks and the 171 Campus is on the right. The first building, at 155 Cedar Street is the Drake House and further up the hill is the Bruce House at 171 Cedar Street.
Driving South on Route 15
Stay on Route 15 until it merges with Interstate 86 (86 used to be Route 17), just beyond Gang Mills. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Denison Parkway West. Take exit 4B for Route 352 toward Riverside/Downtown Corning; merge onto Denison Parkway West. Then you will come to an intersection where the Rockwell Museum will be at the corner on your left. At this light turn right onto Cedar Street. Cross First Street and the 171 Campus is on your right.
Driving from Bath
Follow Interstate 86 (86 used to be Rte 17) Take Exit 45 for Route 352 toward Riverside/Downtown Corning. Here you will merge onto Denison Parkway West. Then you will come to an intersection where the Rockwell Museum will be at the corner on your left. At this light turn right onto Cedar Street. Cross First Street and the 171 Campus is on the right. The first building, at 155 Cedar Street is the Drake House and further up the hill is the Bruce House at 171 Cedar Street.
