Class(es):

  • Ivy Teaches: Painting & Mixed Media Workshops

    Some of my earliest memories are of coloring with my grandmother when I was three. I studied art at Alfred University, received a degree in Business from CCC, a BS in Marketing and an MS in Liberal Studies from SUNY Empire State College. A ‘forever student’, I am also certified in interior design and color therapy. For almost 17 years, I was an Advertising Manager for Gannett Newspaper Division and later, Corporate Relations Director for Johnson at Cornell University.

    Today, I wear many creative hats: contemporary artist, color theorist, marketing consultant, instructor, and color therapist. My custom-designed, vibrant paintings have won international awards and can be found in homes and offices all over the world. My work has also appeared in several books on international contemporary artists.

    The paintings for 171 Cedar Arts Mosaic fundraiser were inspired by my love for color and abstract designs. My creative process involves several layers of acrylic, oil & wax pastels on canvas or birch board, which is often emblazoned by metallic and iridescent overlays, glitter and gold leaf. I apply a clear coat of high gloss polymer epoxy resin (I use a blow torch during this process!) that offers the duality of sealing in the artwork while making the colors pop by reflecting light.
