David Teaches: Screenwriting
Since the world-wide release of his survivalist horror film HERE ALONE in 2017, David Ebeltoft’s work as a screenwriter has been hailed as “suspenseful”, “emotionally driven”, and “decidedly chilling”. Working within the thriller, horror, and drama genres, David recently re-envisioned the Japanese video game ROOT LETTER into a hardboiled drama for Akatsuki Entertainment and his southern-soaked thriller BLOOD FOR DUST is presently in development with Witchcraft Motion Picture Company and Short Porch Pictures. His adaptation of GO NOW, a novel by punk-pioneer Richard Hell, is also in development at Crush Pictures.
David’s film accolades include the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature, the New York Filmmaker Award from the St. Lawrence Film Festival, the Philadelphia Screenplay Festival Grand Prize, and the Bluecat Screenwriting Lab Feature Development Award. His films have earned enthusiastic reviews from The New York Times, The Village Voice, Dreadcentral, and Rue-morgue and have been official selections at dozens of domestic and international film festivals. His films can be found on major streaming sites such as Tubi, The Roku Channel, Amazon, RedBox, iTunes, Vudu, and other VOD providers around the globe.
In addition to his cinematic work, David is crafting a graphic novel with notable comic creator Jordan Hart, has lectured on screenwriting and narrative film for The State University of New York | CCC, and was a panelist for the 2019 NYFA Playwriting/Screenwriting Fellowship Program. He is repped by Michael Klein at Magnolia Entertainment.
