Music – Cello (Suzuki)
Christine Lowe-Diemecke began her cello studies as a Suzuki student at the age of nine. She later continued her studies with Alexander Goldfield and Candace Brower-Wood. Christine attended SUNY at Buffalo where she studied with Luca DiCecco and the University of Connecticut where she studied with Marylou Rylands. Upon completion of her degree, she took a position playing in the Mexico City Philharmonic.
In 1985, Christine left Mexico and moved to Houston, TX. In Houston she performed with Theatre Under the Stars, a full-time musical theatre company where she was principal cellist. She was also active as a chamber musician, playing in the Houston Quartet and the Sunrise String Quartet. While in Houston, Christine became a much sought after teacher. She maintained a studio of forty students.
In 1993, Christine, her husband Augusto, and daughter Alejandra moved to Ithaca, NY. She began taking Suzuki training classes at the Ithaca Suzuki Institute and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. She has trained with Gilda Barston, Nancy Hair, Rick Mooney, Carol Tarr, and Nell Novack. Christine joined the faculty of Ithaca Talent Education in 1994. She has taught at workshops and institutes in the United States, Mexico and Canada. At present Christine is assistant principal cellist in both the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and the Tri-Cities Opera. She is an active chamber musician and freelancer.
