Call for Artists Working with Glass:

171 Cedar Arts Center in partnership with The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG)
is pleased to announce a call for entries for the juried group exhibition

This exhibit will be on view to the public May 24 – July 12, 2024 in Corning, NY.

This is the fourth collaborative exhibition between 171 Cedar Arts Center and The Studio. Our partnership is designed to amplify the variety of talented artists associated with The Studio throughout the region. All artists who participated in classes or rented studio space at The Studio during 2023 are eligible to submit new works or fully realized conceptual designs for consideration. Artists must be able to deliver their work in person to 171 Cedar Arts and pick up their work at the end of the exhibition. Selected works for this exhibit will be on view to the public May 24 – July 12, 2024 in the Houghton Gallery on the campus of 171 Cedar Arts Center.

This year we are inviting artists to respond to the theme TRANSPARENCY. The broad interpretation of this title should allow a thematic exploration within your existing practice. Whether you approach this theme through a lens of personal identity, material practice, or social commentary, we look forward to seeing a diversity of newly created works of glass art!


  • Submissions should not exceed 36” in height, width, or depth.
  • Works must be relevant to the field of glass arts.
  • Applicants are restricted to artists actively associated with The Studio.
  • Exhibition space has limited access to electrical outlets.
  • All works must be available for sale during the exhibition.
  • Value of submitted works not to exceed $10,000 due to insurance coverage restrictions.

Application Process:

Interested applicants should please send the following information to  with the subject line “Application for Transparency” prior to the March 15, 2024 deadline.

  1. Personal Contact Information: name, mailing address, email, cell phone.
  2. Recent Headshot (jpg or tif).
  3. Artist Biography & Select Resume (one page total, word or pdf).
  4. Project Statement (100–200 words) The project statement should apply directly to the work that the artist is submitting and its relationship to the title and theme.
  5. Images of artwork/fully conceptualized renderings: overall front, overall back, detail
    (max 4, jpg or tif).
  6. Artwork Information: title, year of creation, media, dimensions, sale price, installation method (wall hung or pedestal mounted).

  • Artists will be notified of their submission status via email by March 29, 2024.

  • Selected artists will be required to complete an Exhibition Agreement by April 5.
  • There is no shipping budget for this exhibition. Each artist is responsible for delivery, installation, deinstallation, and removal of their work at the close of the exhibit.
  • 171 Cedar Arts Center will insure all works while on view in the gallery.
  • All works will be for sale and the artist will set the retail price for their work. 171 Cedar Arts will retain 30% of the sale price of each work sold, with 70% of the sale price being paid to the artist.
