171 Showcase Student & Faculty Exhibition | Submission Form

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE:
171 Cedar Arts Center is pleased to invite 171’s visual arts and ceramics students to display their artwork in the Houghton Gallery during our 2023 Showcase Student & Faculty Art Exhibition. A reception to celebrate 171 Showcase 2023 will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6-9 PM in the Houghton Gallery (155 Cedar Street, Corning). The exhibition will run through April 14, 2023.
TIMELINE:
Artwork Drop Off: February 25, 27- 28.
Showcase Reception: March 3, 2023 6-9 PM
Exhibition on View: March 3 – April 14, 2023
Artwork Pickup: April 15, 17-18.
ELIGIBILITY:
All visual arts and ceramics students (adults and children) enrolled in classes and/or workshops from 2021 to present are eligible to submit up to two pieces of artwork for this show. 171 Cedar Arts Center Faculty members may submit one piece of artwork for this show. This includes paintings, drawings, prints, collages, textiles, photographs, and ceramics. We are also able to display digital art this year. Artwork submitted must be completed within the past two years and cannot have been previously exhibited at 171 Cedar Arts Center.
Artist must deliver artwork to 171 or cover the cost of shipping and any insurance during transit (both inbound and outbound).
SUBMISSION INFORMATION:
• Wall hanging, pedestal, floor standing, or hanging wall art may be submitted.
• All entries must be ready for display (gallery ready/ready for hanging). Maximum size must not exceed: 48” x 48” Framed. No works may exceed the weight of 100 lbs and must be able to fit through a standard door. 171 Cedar Arts Center reserves the right to determine acceptability of any entry.
• All works shall be labeled with the artist’s name, address, email, phone number, title, and price if for sale. If not for sale please label as “NFS” and include a value for insurance purposes.
• 171 Cedar Arts Center reserves the right to determine the acceptability of any work. Artwork not conforming to this prospectus will be automatically rejected.
SALES:
Artwork may be listed for sale, but this is not a requirement.
A commission of 30% will be retained on all sales. Payments will be distributed to artists within 30 days after the conclusion of the exhibition.
LIABILTY:
Entries will be handled with all possible care. 171 Cedar Arts Center carries liability insurance to cover gallery contents. If you do not intend to sell your artwork at a listed price, please state an insured value for your artwork that is NFS. Submission of artwork to this exhibition implies acceptance by the artist of all conditions set forth in this prospectus. 171 Cedar Arts Center is not responsible for abandoned work. All work not picked up by May 1, 2023 is subject to disposal unless other arrangements are made in advance.
PUBLICITY:
171 Cedar Arts Center reserves the right to photograph participating artists and exhibited work for marketing purposes.
ENTRY FEE:
The non-member entry fee will be waived for the 2023 exhibition.
